Portrait photography is an another amazing classification of camera profession. The amazing and beautiful stuff is always distributed to the hard workers. When I say portrait photography I simply mean by a photography terminology that means the class of photography that deals with the representation of facial expressions, mood or personality of the main subject of the photograph.
This type of photography is usually done with a single person or sometimes it may consist of a group of people. The focus of the photograph is mainly on the face of the person involved in the photo. But there is no rule regarding the scope of the photograph. The entire body may also be included in the photograph. Portrait photographs are very popular round the globe.
What are the requirements for perfect portrait photography? Probably the answer would be the efficiency and talent of the artist who is holding the camera. But wait its lot more than that. A lot of things are needed for portrait photography to be declared as perfect. Some of the requirement for portrait photography to achieve the perfect title.
1) Lighting: The lighting defines the level of contrast and brightness of the scene. The light that falls on the centre person of the photograph must be perfect and according to the pre required levels only. Some lighting plans are used during a portrait photography , such as,
a) Three Point Lighting: Three points light are used to define the depth of the background. Generally they are mounted in a triangular manner above the ground.
b) Fill Light : Used to control the contrast of the scene.
c) Key Light: Placed in front of the subject. This is the main source of light used to define the shape of the face. Other than these, some more plans are used for different requirements of the scene.
2) Camera: The camera unit should be of good quality. Quality means, shutter speed, white light balance, lens aperture etc.
3) Background: Background matters in most of the portrait photographs.
